ABOUT

Rebecca Borchers

Rebecca is a cultural and fine art photographer based in Austin, Texas. Whether it’s in a remote village or ranch in Texas her images capture the essence of vanishing cultures, ways of life and moments in time from around the world.

Born and raised in Yoakum, Texas, Rebecca has spent most of her career immersed in historic preservation - saving historic places and buildings that give communities a sense of place. When she doesn’t have a camera in her hand, she now combines her talents as a non-profit management and fundraising consultant, a writer, historian, and photographer.  Her projects include documenting, photographing and writing the history of downtown Yoakum for listing on the National Register of Historic Places; and capital campaign consultant for Southern Gateway Park (Dallas), Headwaters at the Comal (New Braunfels) and The River and The Wall, a documentary film about the Texas borderlands and the impact of a wall on the natural environment.

Rebecca has a BA in history and Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Artist’s Statement

While my travels have taken me around the globe, opportunities that I am profoundly grateful for, I also seek meaning in images in my own backyard and in everyday life.

I’m intrigued by off-the-beaten path, remote places, cultures, and ways of life. My images reflect my life-long interest and passion for architecture, art, travel and adventure, the whimsical—and my sense of humor, a trait inherited from my father. I hope that others will find joy, laughter, and meaning in my images.
